When we, the members of SDP's Board of Directors, choose Conference locations, we take a number of things into consideration. In recent years, you, our cherished members, have asked us to look for Conference areas that are centrally located and fun with lots of arts opportunities, and more reasonably priced hotel rooms. We are delighted to announce that after months of negotiations, the contracts are signed and we can now reveal to you the 2009 Conference dates and location: June 16-20 in Peoria, Illinois.
We are charmed by this artistic river town in the heart of the Illinois Wine Country and we know you will be, too. Here are some of the advantages that SDP Conference in Peoria will offer you:
- The city is served by multiple major airlines, so fares are reasonable.
- A central location means that many members can drive to Conference.
- Top-notch accommodations are just:
- The Peoria Civic Center which recently underwent a $55 million dollar expansion.
- Plus, a wonderful riverfront with dining, shopping, art galleries, and live entertainment.

Exhibiting with the Society of Decorative Painters
The 37th Annual SDP Expo is June 16-20, 2009 at the Peoria Civic Center in Peoria, IL. This event -- the largest Decorative Painting gathering on the planet -- is the ideal place to sell your products directly to thousands of painters in all media from across the world in a matter of days.
TWO BOOTH SIZES AVAILABLE:
- 10’ x 10’ Full Booth - $595 for members: $795 for non-members.
- 5’ x 10’ Showcase Booth - $350 for members: $550 for non-members.
- Corner Booth - additional $50
THE FOLLOWING AMENITIES ARE INCLUDED IN THE BOOTH FEE:
- One 8-foot draped table
- Two chairs
- Wastebasket
- Identification sign
- Three exhibitor badges for full booth - two badges with showcase booth.
- Drayage service provided – Advance freight is received and handled at a reduced rate. On-site unloading/loading services of private vehicles will be handled at NO CHARGE with NO LIMITATION TO WEIGHT.
- Free booth photo and listing for one full year on the SDP’s virtual conference located on the SDP website at decorativepainters.org. Additional pictures and text can be purchased for a small fee.
- New Product Area opportunity - Items placed in this area are eligible for the “Product of the Year Award” and winners receive recognition, free advertising and press releases will be sent to all painting and craft magazines.
- Complete Exhibitor Kit – available December 2008
- First opportunity to sign up for and select your booth space in next year’s show. Booths are assigned based on points for the total number of years that you have exhibited with SDP.
- Standard listings in Conference Program Book and one free Conference Program Book per booth.
- Limited accessible storage is available on the show floor.
- Nightly cleaning of aisles
- Full-time service desk
- Full-time staffed show management office
ADDED BENEFITS AVAILABLE:
- There will be Make-It Take-It and Demo areas on the floor. You will receive a one-hour demo time slot free with booth purchase. The MITI area and additional demo time slots can be rented by the hour to give all exhibiting companies the opportunity to do Make-It Take-It type projects.
- Option to advertise in Conference Program Book if advertising materials are received by specified deadline date
- Opportunity to sponsor conference events for additional exposure.
- Opportunity to donate prizes for drawings, games and events.
DISPLAY STANDARDS:
- Back and side walls of each booth shall not exceed eight (8) feet in height.
- Nothing in the exhibit may extend above nine (9) feet.
- Exception: Booths along perimeter (outside walls) may go to a maximum height of 12 feet.
- All booth displays must be finished on all visible surfaces.
- Finish must be in keeping with the nature and character of the display.
- No signage may appear on the outside walls of the booth except on the aisle side of corner booths.
- Exhibit space must be claimed and occupied by noon on the second day of set-up. Space not claimed and occupied will be forfeited and reassigned without refund unless previous arrangements regarding arrival times have been made.
EXPO HOURS:
Wednesday 6 – 10 pm: Expo Premier Opening –registered attendees only
Thursday 10 am – 6 pm: Expo open – public and registered attendees
Friday 10 am – 5 pm: Expo open – public and registered attendees
Saturday 9 am – 2 pm: Expo open – public and registered attendees
EXPO TICKET COST:
- Registered attendees get in free
- Non-registered public - $10 - Children 12 and under $2
- Saturday Expo will be free to everyone
